In early 2020, membership voted overwhelmingly in favor of a bylaws change allowing GLAR to create five regions to be used to determine board representation. This was the second step in a process to make our organization more representative of our membership as a whole, and to make us more responsive to your needs. The five regions are based around the cities of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City, West Hollywood and Los Angeles.

This spring we are putting this change into action by taking the second step in our regionalization plan.  

  

When you go to vote for the 2022 Board of Directors, you will be asked to select a regional Chair and Vice Chair to represent your region on the board. Your regional Chair and Vice Chair will be your direct voice on the Board of Directors, bringing your region’s interests, needs and perspective to our organization’s leadership. This change will give you - our members, a more balanced voice in the association. Each region will also be guaranteed representation on certain committees, such as government affairs, to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all members.

The driving force behind this change is to be more inclusive of all members. Real estate is local, and governance is no different. By ensuring equal and fair representation that is locally grown and cultivated, we will be able to increase services to our members and more effectively advocate on the issues that matter most to you and your community.
