Centennial Club: A Year in Review (and why you should join next year)
Thursday, Nov 30, 2017 @ 10:23 PM

The Centennial Club was established in 2003 “in order to bring the most current legislative and political information to the members of the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS®.” That’s the official statement.

However, the Centennial Club was also established in large part to acknowledge your commitment to our industry via your generous contributions to the REALTOR® Action Fund (RAF).

We are one of the only Association in California and the country to recognize donors at the $148 level. We take pride in the generosity of our members, and we are pleased to offer these Centennial Club lunches as a token of our appreciation.

2017 Overview

CA State Treasurer John Chiang with Collective REALTY CEO Anthony Vulin with his agents Christopher Wookey and Tanner Brown. On February 2nd we welcomed California State Treasurer John Chiang to Gladstone’s in Malibu. Members were impressed with John’s knowledge of the California budget and his commitment to private property rights. Chiang is now one of top gubernatorial candidates.

Our annual Rent Control lunch is always our most popular legislative lunch of the year. This year it was held at George Petrelli’s Steak House in Culver City on June 9th. Our members received updates from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and West Hollywood regarding rent control ordinances. They were also able to engage in a question and answer period where a robust dialogue ensued. We are so fortunate to have opportunities like this to interact with those that craft and implement rent control policy at the municipal level.

South LA Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson headlined our 3rd Legislative Luncheon at the California Jazz & Blues Museum on October 6th. He shared that honor with the one-of-a-kind Barbara Morrison. Harris-Dawson spoke about the revitalization of South LA, and the critical role homeownership plays in that process.

CM Marqueece Harris-Dawson with LCRC Trustees Rich Kissel, Robin Greenberg and Robert Cipolloni. BH/GLAAR GAD James Litz and CEO Chip Ahlswede are on the right.

CA State Insurance Commissioner Dave JonesWest Hollywood’s Andaz was the site of our fourth and final legislative lunch of 2017. We welcomed California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones (who is also the leading candidate for Attorney General of California) who spoke to our members at length about property rights, homeownership, and government waste. He wants to see effective programs that incentivize homeownership and a state government that supports those that promote and defend our strong neighborhoods and communities.

In 2017 we had over 900 REALTOR® Action Fund Centennial Club members. That’s an all-time record for our association! We are so proud of our members for supporting the American dream of homeownership for all with their contribution of $148 or more. This is why we went above and beyond to secure incredible speakers for you to interact with and influence.

We look forward to 2018, as we have much to fight for. But, the American dream is worth fighting for. Thank you for all you have done, and all you continue to do for homeownership in Los Angeles and across California. Together, there is nothing we can’t achieve!
